We had to say goodbye to our beloved Yoshi, the sweetest most sensitive little girl. I called her Dr. Dog because she was such a great emotional support. We will miss her greatly

A disciple of Charlie Patton, Mississippi’s Bukka White played old style country/delta blues. He could keep a room moving with his loud percussive playing style and a rich gravelly voice singing of lost love and imminent death. He was over in Aberdeen on his way to New Orleans.

Everybody knows this is a masterpiece and I agree. Blurry, noisy, chaotic and beautiful. A unique and towering achievement as resonant today as it was in 1991 when My Bloody Valentine gifted it to the world.

The opener played Fight Fire With Fire, the first track on their new album. My head exploded and I had a new favorite band for a couple of years. Oh yeah and they helped invent thrash too

Chan Marshal is always amazing but IMO she was never as immediately engaging from cover to cover as she was when she went to Memphis, hired legendary studio ringers, and put out this shimmering masterpiece

Memphis Minnie could shred and sing and write with the best of them. “Good Morning Blues”, “When the Levee Breaks” and of course “Hoodoo Lady.” Don’t put that thing on me cuz I’m going back to Tennessee
