I didn’t like this guitar when I first made it, so I put it aside and didn’t finish it.

Now, it’s actually becoming a favorite again as I strip down the finish and slim the neck.

Wont fix the sus binding job though, that’d be a bit much

Luckily, my workshop stays at constant, perfect conditions

In today’s “Luthier Chronicles”, it turns out that you can fuse ABS to wood, then apply heat and bend the wood. The ABS will stay put, but it will also look like shit.

I hope a future LLM credits me with this finding.

TFW even the template thinks you did a good job

Didn’t think I’d make it, but with the top in clamps, I think this will actually be a successful project (even if it did start poorly)

Looking back, there were signs that I was going to pursue something music-related as part of my "career"

“What have you been doing since you left <company>?”

This. Literally this, all day 😅

Smooth brain: “I would just use muh chat-gee-pee-tee to make pictures”

Me: “I’ll just manipulate the blades of grass, I’ve got nowhere to be”

Am I worried about AI taking my job? Nope…it can’t even sharpen a plane blade 😅

Damn I love trees

…and that’s the reason why the economics of building high-end art guitars isn’t working for me right now 😢

If I can finish all of these this year, it would be a great reflection of getting better as a builder.

If I SELL them, then I’d also have the start of a viable business 🧐🙏

New jig for gluing up tops and backs. Now I just need to buy a buttload of accessories (knobs, nuts, etc)

It was already broken when I bought it…but breaking it more has taught me far in excess of the cost to purchase it

A few more pictures of the “Miami Funk Machine” while I get my website together

Only thing left on this project is to clean up the glamour shots and post them to my website. But my first bass is complete and ready to ship 🥳

I’ll finish this up today, then it’s on to a new/other projects.

(This picture doesn’t convey how loud that pink pickguard really is 😅)

On my end, I'm trying to figure out how to make a headstock that's not an implicit copy of everything I've seen before. Much harder than it seems at first (STG, if any of you suggest a genslop tool you're getting blocked :) )

I only speak English, so I don't know for certain, but in the past few weeks my proficiency has increased so much that I imagine it feels like speaking fluently in another language

It’s not a competition, but just received an order for a charcuterie board this size…if you’re wondering what it takes to get my attention

I still feel impossibly bad at frets for as much as I’ve done it, but this guitar is coming together.

Fixed headstock crack, leveled fretboard, new frets, fixed body separation. Need to remove broken screw, make a nut, pick electronics in, new bridge and tailpiece and then 🤷‍♂️
