and making it abundantly clear to basil that it isnt a matter of politeness, but that he doesnt even trust him to do anything without fucking it up in the first place. which i think would immediately draw aggro

honestly this exchange would happen at the like, fifth time basil has watched arismont intentionally position himself in front so he can do everything first without giving basil the chance to say anything. which ultimately leads to aris going "oh, will you be alright handling that? if you're sure!"

it's true and i think about them a lot still. i love analyzing class differences in otherwise very similar people

aris would go way too far in accommodating basil but not out of any pity, but literally out of thinking "if i keep my cool im an objectively better person than you" but historically, people gradually take more from his patience as they realize how much they can get away with around him til he snaps
