During the Troubles, one of my uncles was picked up in an unmarked van by people with no ID who turned out to be picking up folk for internment without trial, but could as easily have been planning on shooting him. There is no way I would not try and claw at anyone who leapt out at me.
Willing to bet a very large amount that most of that 413% rise in “assaults” on ICE agents represent unarmed people attacking ICE fists with their faces and boots with their kidneys.

As a negotiator, I disagree that "...the best strategy in a negotiation is to convince the other side that you are crazy." It's a great way, in fact, to get the other party to get up and walk away from the table. I'm guessing we'll be seeing many of our historical global partners do just that.

Hmm I wonder what the long term strategy is behind replacing birth certificates, over which the federal government has no control at all, with passports, over which the Executive Branch has nearly exclusive control, as a foundational document for citizenship and voting.
