Just to be super clear, if you’re phoning in your peer review to ai you should quit your job so someone else who actually likes science can have it.

If you liked the (excellent) bird migration piece in The Guardian today, I suspect you'll ❤️ spending some time with Audubon's Bird Migration Explorer, which is a full-on interactive data masterpiece:
Bird Migration Explorer
The Bird Migration Explorer is your guide to the heroic annual journeys made by over 450 bird species, and the challenges they face along the way.

SHOUT OUT MOFS FOR WINNING THE NOBEL PRIZE IN CHEMISTRY!!! MOFs have been my side hustle (lol) throughout my undergrad and I’m so happy to see them getting recognition. Huge day for MOF enthusiasts

When you see a headline that makes a claim that sounds absolutely bananas & cites some “study”, don’t just believe it because the headline used one science word. Look at the source. Was it even peer reviewed? Where? What are experts in the field saying about it? If it sounds ridiculous it might be.
Also just a reminder for ppl who follow me here from Twitter, I post my science-adjacent things here and save all my sports themed shenanigans for my Twitter! (I’m @zoey_wav there!!)

"The greatest danger to our future is apathy. ... What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." - Vale Jane Goodall (1934-2025).
Saw her with my mom right after I gave my first ever research talk at a conference outside my own university! Needless to say I was absolutely starstruck (from the nosebleeds of Place des Arts lol). Such a trailblazer for women in biology!!
Now seems like an appropriate time to say that the Jane Goodall talk I went to three years ago was hands down the best concert I’ve ever been to. What an absolute icon
Go charge go!!🌯⚡️

I did a project on these little guys in grade 6 and have been obsessed with them ever since! So glad that conservation efforts are going well!
In case you hadn’t heard: Conservation works! 📣

Meet the ‘takhi’ (Przewalksi’s horse), the last truly wild horses. The last individuals in the wild were seen in the Gobi desert in 1969. Only a coordinated captive breeding programme (from just 12 indivs) saved them from extinction.
In recent Zoey lore, I’ve decided that 22 is the PERFECT age to learn to play hockey. Highly recommend starting a new sport and being absolutely abysmal at it. Most fun I’ve had in months!
Highlight of 2024 was seeing my first black crowned night heron in Montreal of all places and shrieking like I saw a celebrity ✨

We humbly interrupt your scroll to bring you the news that Wisdom—the world's oldest known wild bird—is breeding again, age 74.

Go on girl. 😍
Little song sparrow almost flew straight into me today. Guess I have to get those bird safe window decals for my glasses 🤧🤧
I think Cornell’s birds of the world database should be open access all the time ✨😘
