Or, he's just a major sell out. Both are possible. I have been thinking a lot on what happens to politicians once they enter office. I pray now that Mamdani shows them how to hold the fort for integrity.

I can't make sense of it. As PM he knows the ins/outs of the climate file more than anyone before him. His wife is an expert on climate & energy policy. The about face doesn't adhere to his values at ALL. I can only imagine he's trying to do an optics play while knowing the business case will fail.

For years people (including me) have called for kicking oil out of COP but it won't do much if the structure allows petrostate negotiators (including US!) to gum up the works. + other polluting industries! can't play whack-a-mole with bad actors, gotta fix the system that gives them power.
