I think some faculty view librarians and archivists as gatekeepers. The reality is that when they get into it with us, they are punching down. We are at a hierarchical and social disadvantage (even librarians with faculty status), and all we're trying to do is keep stuff safe. For scholars.

Many of us donate labor to our institutions (which don't appreciate it) for zine librarianship. The labor is for our communities, not the institutions. The work is some of our activism for which we don't need to be paid. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
