This sums up Zigi perfectly – bold, curious and a bit of a showboat. As Umani’s youngest grandcalf, he has no shortage of nannies. His mother, Zongoloni is one of our success stories. Rescued after poachers killed her mother, we raised her until she was ready to return to the wild: swt.bio/zongoloni

Kipekee can't go anywhere without her bodyguard. Big girl Kamili used to be quite stand-offish towards the babies, but Kipekee's arrival changed all that. Now she won't go anywhere without her tiny-trunked friend. From being on the brink of death, to a big caring sister, meet Kamili: swt.bio/kamili

It’s eerily quiet right now in the yard. There is not one bird singing. I’m suspecting maybe there’s a Cooper’s Hawk. This was earlier today. Steller’s Jay taking a bath at the wildlife Pond #Birds

the most frustrating visual aspect of car dependency isn't just its degenerative effect on societal cohesion in the urban form and the scarring of the land, but the way it shapes land use around itself. so much business and industry is exclusively dedicated to car ownership. you see it everywhere.

obviously the Marxist move here is class solidarity across racial, ethnic and national lines, but these guys aren't Marxists. both the Democrats and Republicans believe in eternal and unending race war. eventually it's liable to turn violent

Illegal cattle ranching has torn through Nicaragua’s rainforests in recent years, supplying a growing international market for meat despite calls for better oversight of the industry.

This has led to a spike in cases of New World screwworm, a parasitic fly that feeds on warm-blooded animals.

This spring, the Trump administration proposed to revoke the longstanding definition of “harm” under the ESA, eliminating habitat protections.

We officially requested public records that might explain the proposal, but so far the Department of the Interior hasn’t disclosed anything — so we sued.

6 month, long exposure pinhole camera Solargram.

Paper wet - part was beginning to disintegrate from water intrusion. Had snow & wind storms & lots of rain May/June 2025.

Pinhole is tiny - I was surprised paper was so wet. Very pleased with result - even more pleased I got the angle right.

"Despite Gaza suffering 34x more casualties than Israel, BBC gave Israeli deaths 33 times more coverage per fatality" and that's not the worst of it.

The British national public broadcaster is systematically biased against Palestinians in Gaza war coverage.

An incredible experience today. The Agami Heron is a very rare species and one that's difficult to see. But today I made a new friend who discovered a rookery with over 300 of these incredible birds that are on a new property he bought.

One of the coolest features of the Agami Heron is its gorgeous, flowing crest that flutters as it poses and preens. But I've never seen it up close before with the details and textures.
