Tested it with my phone for a lock screen wallpaper, and honestly it's perfect.

Because I still like this version, here's the first pass of line work and flats before things got adjusted to where they ended up. Half considering this as a commission option that could be more affordable.

Once their design was a bit more set, then did some color tests - I'm definitely using some of these for other characters. It was a bit harder making a decision, but I'm a big sucker for purple and orange.
Color test to finalize things. 1 was my original idea, 2 was a close second. 5, 7, and 8 may be ones I reuse for a later time/different design

Spent some time trying out new ideas, and just messing with their current shape language to see what I wanted to keep and what I wanted to get rid of. Originally their waist piece was going to be removed, but it just fit their design too well when testing.

It's honestly a good idea! I just find sometimes I take a little longer to sketch where I don't have time to sit down for that.

I'm lucky that my phone has a stylus, sometimes I'll quickly doodle down something so I don't lose the idea. Expanding on this one heavily once home this week.

The main issue I'm coming across is keeping the same intensity of pigmentation when trying to get a lighter value. Ran into this issue with the blue in my previous test, where you can add white to get it brighter, but then it desaturates and you can't get a vibrant robins egg or teal

So, I'm using Golden Open Acrylics - they stay wet a bit longer and I find they blend really nicely. I only have the 6 pack of paints to start with. Trying to practice my mixing more, but some colors are tougher to hit.
