NEVER get in the checkout line behind a woman on a mobility scooter. She will have coupons. And she will pay in cash. With lots of coins.

People flooding bsky now because Elon’s facism is showing. Didn’t stop you from buying a Tesla last Christmas, did it? How’s that going for you, bro?

The irony of Evangelical Christians calling for death and destruction in Jesus's homeland who are awaiting His return in said homeland is 🤌

You don't think He will be mildly displeased that you're calling for the death of his people?? Just before His birthday???

This week has been too much. If it hasn't drained you, then you're not paying attention. My heart hurts. Praying. Just praying.

Amen!
Conflating Judaism with Zionism and conflating support for Palestinians with anti-Semitism is a lie. Don’t fall for it. Don’t dignify it by letting people force constant clarifications from you. You can be unabashedly, unapologetically pro-Palestinian liberation.

I find it ironic that Steve Scalise, who was very cavalier about mask guidelines (almost hostile) during COVID, was wearing (wait for it) a mask at tonight's GOP meeting, claiming that it's due to having cancer.

And so many more things! I'm so thankful for what I have. The little things. Because a tank of gas for a sedan is pretty little compared to the pricetag for a yacht.
I'm definitely not rich. But I finally have money. And yes, it's brought me happiness: Peace of mind, security, and health.
October 9, 2023 at 2:45 PM
So no, money doesn't BUY me happiness. But it does get me:
A place to live in a good school district
Medical care for chronic illnesses
A car that doesn't breakdown in seedy neighborhoods
A full tank of gas so I don't run out in bad neighborhoods
A sweater to wear when I'm caught in the cold

In college and as a single mom I was pretty financially strapped.
I went to bargain grocery stores
Shopped Goodwill
Worked 3 jobs to afford rent
Lived in subsidized housing
Received subsided daycare
Skimped on Drs visits
Didn't attend bday parties
My choice was either starve or be extremely frugal.
October 9, 2023 at 2:37 PM
Normally I don't spend extravagantly.
I buy things on sale
Never buy name brand at the grocery store
Last year I finally bought an iPhone to upgrade the 7 I had, a hand me down for the 6 I dropped in the toilet
My kids wear Target
I wear Zara on sale
I bought my first brand new car ever 4 yrs ago

Since coming back from vacation I've realized that all the things that make me happy aren't free:

Going out for the day in a tank top then suddenly getting chilly in the evening and having the means to buy a sweater to stay warm

Staying somewhere where I can ask the hotel for a mattress topper

Money doesn't BUY you happiness. But money can give you peace of mind, security, and a better quality of life. Money can give you all the things that do make you happy.

Random 4am musings (because that's what you do when you are jetlagged; lie in bed in the darkness for 3 hrs. thinking too much

A thread:
The person who said "Money doesn't buy you happiness" was either lying or incredibly naive.

Today I walked 7 miles in Geneva and now I can't move my lower half. I was on a mission to beat my average steps number from last year, when I went to Paris/Copenhagen.
The takeaway? It's pathetic that I can only do that if I did 7 miles today. Our cities need to be far more walkable in there US.

This is absolutely bonkers but completely foreseeable. The guy won Speakership after 15(!) rounds of voting, the first to ever go that long, and is now the first Speaker to be ousted. Who isn't surprised? 🙋🏻‍♀️ apple.news/AD8SiJ1DaTb2...

I mean who saw this coming? Anybody? Anybody?
Personally, if I applied for and was rejected from a promotion 15 times before they begrudgingly gave it to me, only to last 24.5 Scaramuccis, I would not keep going to work.

When my brother was 11ish, a telemarketer called our house mid-dinner. She had also mangled my dad's name. My brother yelled at her: Well if you can't even say his name right then don't call again and not at dinner time!
I need to manifest indignant 11yo energy in my life now.
September 27, 2023 at 2:12 PM
There's a special place in hell for recruiters who call you at 6:45AM. That's right alongside telemarketers who call at dinnertime.

Say what you may about Biden. You have to admit that this is an incredible display of solidarity with the average American worker by a sitting US President.
It's good that the president thinks it's a good idea to visit the picket line, doesn't matter how cynical a calculation it is, because no president in living memory has thought the same
President Biden joined striking autoworkers on a picket line in Michigan, in an extraordinary show of support by a sitting president. The United Auto Workers must negotiate separate deals with General Motors and Stellantis on issues, including pay. nyti.ms/3taFgwV

Me: I tell everyone that they're doing it wrong.
I mean. Not a lie totally.
