A couple months ago I thought I was going to lose the cat I’m closest with. Stopped eating anything except wet food, and got very constipated. After an emergency enema and some further medications, he bounced back. He’s 14 years old and has kidney decline, but I’m not ready to say goodbye yet 🥺

Even then they are usually available for major incidents as an escalation path.

The only technical roles I typically expect to not be involved hands on in operations or on-call break-fix is principle engineers or architects.

If they are I haven’t found them. Every senior role I’ve had I was responsible for not only planning projects and refreshes, but also doing the installs. All while being on call.

Needless to say… good riddance. I’m not going back. If it wasn’t for some of the local community groups on Facebook, I’d be gone from there as well.
