Lovely earth lass seeks helpful hitchhiker to stick a thumbs up to the cosmos and get her off this rock. Good at history. Tolerable company. Almost, but not entirely, unlike a computer literate amoeba. I don't know where my towel is... I have problems.
I often find people on the right actually agree with all of that. If only they knew you and they want the same thing. At least as the end goal. It's sad that people don't listen to eachother. Maybe they'd find out they would have friends they never expected to have.

I dunno, I feel like it would be kind of entertaining.. who doesn't want something to laugh at while they are out with friends?

We haven't seen any house sparrows in years until this year we finally saw two. They used to be so common they were used to translate the Bible verse "are not two sparrows sold for one penny? Yet you are more valuable than many sparrows." Now they're almost as rare as hens teeth. Take care of them.

I just feel he is controlled opposition. A populist put there just as a foil to divide the vote and keep the traditional elites in power. Why people think he has anything positive to contribute, I don't know. I've not seen any evidence of it. Though, I suppose... I haven't really been looking.

The rest of the week your time is occupied with other people's problems. Thank God for the weekend when you can focus on yourself. We all need that.

When you think about your career, don't forget how far you have come and what you have to be proud of. You have conquered mountains.

I loved everything you wrote. It was meaningful to me not just because I saw my own autism experience in what you said, but because it also chimes well for disabilities in general. We are not the default, but we function fine when people help us create our own default.

I have found that often the problem turns out to be that they don't even know what you know. There are two different spheres of media, and if you exist only in one or the other you are entirely oblivious to things the other side have made headline news. They simply don't report this stuff to them.

They have all failed to respect the value of human life, and I fear that no matter who is voted in we will not get what we are hoping for.

It's was going on further back. All the political class have been the same. :( Obama sought to change the law to speed up the deportation of unaccompanied minors in 2014. He wanted border patrol to make deportation decision on the spot instead of handing kids over to DHHS. We need better leaders.

I don't know you, but I just want to say I loved that video. Jesus is liberator, peacemaker, compassionate redeemer, he comes alongside anybody that is hungry, for love, justice, peace, forgiveness, meaning, and truth. "Come as you are, and taste and see that the Lord is good."

He adds, "It usually has a blue tint, but the color may change and take many different hues. It cannot be described in human terms. The light rises out of the stone as mist may rise out of a lake it almost looks as if the stone is covered by a moist cloud, but it is light"

Diodoros I, Patriarch of Jerusalem, described his experience, after falling to his knees and praying "Sometimes I may wait a few minutes, but normally the miracle happens immediately after I have said the prayers. From the core of the very stone on which Jesus lay an indefinable light pours forth."

Even some religious leaders expressed scepticism, most notably in the late 16thC when Archbishop Melety Smotritsky says the miracle ceased for a time. Orthodox historians counter that there is no evidence it ceased, and Melety's unbelief was down to his being educated by protestants and catholics!

This is certainly true, as the various denominations involved are notorious for prolonged conflicts over the church. The most famous of which is an argument involving a ladder that descended into pure farce. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immovab...

A European monk called Father Bernard is the earliest to mention the fire in ~865AD. With much jealousy between the various denominations, their leaders waiting in the wings to take over should deception be uncovered, many faithful appeal to the lack of proof of fraud over the centuries as evidence.

During the Ottoman Empire, the Turkish government's efforts to discredit the ceremony resulted in a search that became increasingly thorough, as they attempted to prevent the fire from being lit, due to conflicting beliefs about the resurrection in their religion.

None of them were eyewitnesses however. The only medieval Muslim eyewitness we have is Ibn Reihana al Biruni who seems to be entirely convinced, saying a ruler even tried to stop the miracle by replacing the lamp wick with copper, only to have it defeated.

Accounts of the phenomenon go back to the 800s, and several medieval Muslim records attempt to propose a deciphered method, the weirdest being that two kinds of oil were mixed that could spontaneously combust and carried the flame down a metal chain. But they couldn't agree on the kinds of oils used

It's not just the fire appearing in the tomb itself that's viewed as miraculous. Previous onlookers have described something akin to ball lightning bouncing around the building. And people's candles lighting spontaneously. There is a genuine belief that something supernatural is going on.

In the medieval period it was Muslims, then Crusaders, then Ottoman Turkish officials, now Israeli police. They represent the Roman guards who sealed and guarded the tomb in the 1st C. So now they seal it with a great wax seal, after searching it and the Patriarch to ensure no deception is going on.

The way they describe it is so reverential. "The Holy Fire has descended."

I find the description of the preceding ceremony interesting. What they don't mention here is that it's always the rulers of the region who inspect the tomb and seal it after they have checked for hidden fire sources.

Too late for my country. Fight for your right to speak now while you still have it, fight for the right of those you disagree with as well as your own. Losing one means losing the other. The powerful don't want any of you to speak.
