Last night on the ride, a guy in a tomato pie costume asked me which were the most successful and unsuccessful WNRs. I said something like, "I have no idea how to answer that question, every time we get a bunch of people together to ride bikes, it's a success"

The same NYC that just elected Mamdani elected Adams, a consummately corrupt machine insider, last cycle. The same cities can produce very different outcomes... also, I think ranked choice voting would help a LOT in Philly!

I agree Philly politics are often really frustrating, even disillusioning. But we've had (and will have) candidates like Mamdani. Nikil Saval has a lot in common, and Larry Krasner isn't too far off -- both ran progressive campaigns without party support and won, and continue to win, big

Thinking about how when Thirteen by Big Star was released in 1972, the reference to Paint It Black was to a song released six years prior. Today's equivalent would be name-dropping Sunflower or Old Town Road
