I think I know where their weak point is

Is this a #godot bug or am I missing something here? Is Color not a valid object?
October 22, 2025 at 3:08 AM
Once again messing with shaders and playing with color remapping.

Maybe I need to add some kind of color correcting since there's too many situations where the lighting goes too extreme. I want a softer saturated look, and my characters will have strong black outlines.

Yoink! Although I'm gonna see how intuitive it feels in a dual hand layout to support action buttons (roll, attack, etc). As much as I love portrait, I can't figure out good UX that handle action buttons well 😕

P.S: Game looks great on my Pixel Fold! (Main Menu scaled a bit weird though)

progress?! I'm just trying to get the dither on the lighting lol

Light shaders still make no sense to me but I'm making some visible progress??? #godot #gamedev

While working on my debug tool, it seems to uncover some strange oddities about the #GodotEditor .

My tool is essentially just a parser for Node.get_orphan_node_ids(), and when ran inside of a tool script it seems to show orphans in #godot itself.

I'm assuming these are orphaned for caching?

I had an idea about a co-op horror game (think REPO and Lethal Company), but focused around deep cave diving...
October 7, 2025 at 10:17 PM
Discovered a nasty orphan node memory leak and still haven't quite found the source.

While working on a fix, I created a neat little debugger plugin to view orphan nodes.

Also added some alerts so errors are pushed as soon as orphan node leaks are introduced.

Brother and sister both kicking each other in the face 😅

Even though I haven't made anything in awhile I'm able to show off yet, my GitHub commit history makes me feel a bit better like I've actually been doing something.

You can really tell when the project started and began to pickup!

Still not sure what I want for a title screen, but this is a nice WIP one for now.

It's a straight up rip-off of Balatro's title screen lol. But, the swirling essence is what I imagined "Quintessence" to look like. It's supposed to be very purple-ly!

Tested it out and got promising results, thanks!

I don't want it to zoom in my game subviewport too, but I'm thinking I can probably offset that by dividing the camera zoom by the content view scale or something.

Tracked down a really strange #Godot bug...

As much as I love the idea behind Dynamic Refresh Rate, it has only caused me issues on #Windows

Why is it capping my FPS to 60 despite a higher monitor refresh rate? 😞

As much as I hate #OpenAI as a company, I really think their UI/UX designers are the best. That's saying a lot because I think #Google has really nice UX too.

Like idk what this blue orb is supposed to represent when it's listening to voice, but I like it.

How the heck does this even happen lol

Unfortunately this will be my *real* speeds, since I always keep my router connected to a Mullvad VPN. Would love to figure out how to boost these VPN speeds. Also would love to know if I could dynamically change Wireguard servers based off of speeds...

Nice, got a WiFi 7 router and it was a massive speed boost. Finally hitting my 1Gbps advertised speeds.

I picked up the Flint 3 from GL.iNet for like $180 (free shipping) and definitely recommend it. I mostly went with this specific company since their firmware is open-source and built on openWRT.

Yay it's super laggy but it *kinda* works.

After several hours of wasting time on a random side project, I have my #Godot game (kinda) running on my #Anbernic #RG34XX

Those are definitely some of my game's pixels... No idea where my character is lol.

Posting a quick recording of the extremely basic procedural map generation I've been working on. Also some very basic GUI. Haven't uploaded some gameplay in a little bit so getting this out before I rush out to work!

#Gamedev Pro Tip:

Bad at math like me? Just create debug tools to visualize everything so you can brute force the solution!

Showing off some #ScreenshotSaturday progress on my dither #shader effect!

It correctly dithers the way I want it to. Still tweaking it, might want the effect a bit more pronounced, and having it just dither the lighting has been a bit meh. Also some music 😊

Nice, had me try this game and basically got the same score! Even chose the same ending lol. Honestly was really easy to remain consistent overall, I didn't even look at the metrics the game was trying to use.

Not a ton to showoff this #ScreenshotSaturday , so here are some random test maps I have showing off other tilesets. One more GBC old school, the other more modern.

This is my in-development game called Quintessence.

The newest console is my Ayaneo Micro that I got yesterday, it's really sweet. Man I wish I still had my first and original N64 😭
