It's not an RPG in the same sense as Skyrim is, but it has a lot of immersive elements that make the world feel like a living, breathing world.

You don't have to play the first one, 2 is a prequel to 1, but if you have it available and the time I'd recommend it as it sets some things up.

It is a third person shooter with heavy auto-aim (at least on consoles) similar to the Grand Theft Auto titles. There's no character creation, you just play Arthur Morgan, though he does have a little bit of customization as the game goes on via hair growth, weight gain/loss, and clothing.
