This is a hilarious example of how conservatism's pretenses to limited government, skepticism of majoritarian rule, seperation of powers, and respect for the constitution was always bullshit. But Hillsdale College in particular is one of the most instructive examples of this phenomenon. A long🧵

NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

Notice that much of this happened before Trump's second term.

The DHS has always been an exietential threat to the basic constitutional rights of both citizens and noncitizens alike and the rule of law.
The aim was to feed names of noncitizens into an FBI watchlist. Memos show the project unraveled after a chain of mismanagement and oversight failures. Nearly 800 files broke rules meant to stop US intelligence agencies from surveilling Americans.

New York Times social media guidelines prohibit expression suggesting partiality on things like ICE, execution of foreigners in fishing boats, or whether law is a thing.

However, tipping off notorious serial pedophiles about other reporters is absolutely fine.

Not to mention the unseen costs that come from Tariffs reducing the tax base by being so distortionary of relative prices and inefficiencies this introduces.
Trump's $2,000 rebate checks would cost $600 billion ‒ double the new revenue from tariffs
The nonpartisan nonprofit Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget released cost projections after President Trump pitched his idea this weekend.
