The idea of having him on an immune suppressant for life scares me a bit, so hoping I can find a mixture of things that work for him enough to heal. I thought of food allergies too, but he’s refusing to switch to a salmon-based food instead of his beloved chicken. 🙄

I appreciate the detailed response! My boy also fits the description of a compulsive licker - he will go to town on the carpet or couch lol. I wonder if he would benefit from anxiety meds.. >

Did you ever narrow down what was causing it? My chihuahua has been nibbling his paws red too. We’ve tried Apoquel and Cytopoint but it only does so much. :,(
