Replugging an article of mine with Manish Thakur in which we discuss the words Chamar چمار and Miyan میاں. Chama, referring to untouchable Hindus, has been reclaimed as a term of pride. Miyan, referring to Muslims, on the other hand has undergone stigmatization.
