Bluesky is a site explicitly founded by cryptocurrency libertarians with the idea that it would be a decentralized platform where users would be free to choose the open-source moderation and algorithmic feed tools they wanted, and by accident acquired a power userbase that hates all of those things.
Are people mad at the Bluesky ceo for a real reason or an internet madness reason?

ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

US farmers are saying they "just need temporary help, until things get better."

Here's the thing. US farm exports- which are mostly soy- CANNOT get better.

Other countries expanded their soy industries to fill China's demand.

We've walled ourselves out of the global market, folks. This is it.

Once you can convince yourself that the guy engraving the world‘s most famous anti-fascist anthem on his assassin’s bullet is, in fact, announcing his allegiance to fascism, you can pretty much convince yourself of anything, right?

That’s what worries me. Facts being no obstacle to belief.

This is what the internet has done to us. It has given us a community – no matter who we are – where rationalizations, justifications, rebuttals, alternative facts, and workarounds will be provided to navigate any inconvenient evidence, and thus allow us to believe whatever feels best.

Best summary of the Groypers I've seen
His profile seems to fit pretty closely with the blackpill accelerationist movement which has been associated with the groypers and makes much more sense than him being part of some fictional highly trained trans death squad

Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13
The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up

It's from the J6 Big Timeline - the "Summary" page organizes the major people in it by their year of appearance as influencers. I built it for 2 years before making the chart, to avoid cherry picking. You have to put down the raw data first, look for a pattern last.

I want to talk about my friend.

I met him at a summer camp for nerds when I was 12, pre-transition. We hit it off immediately, became SUPER close, and our parents would drive us back and forth for sleepovers for the next five years.

He was the first trans person I met. He transitioned in the 90s.

The most important thing about science the public needs to remember is that the set of experimental and theoretical methods we refer to as "science" is the best, most reliable way of knowing we currently have.

It's rough around the edges but it works way better than anything else.
Watching people not realize this about his work, and then seeing it weaponized against climate policy, sent poor old Bruno Latour into a full-blown case of abyss gaze.

I think a lot of hard left accounts on here don’t fully realize the extent to which the center-left genuinely believes they made a good faith effort to reach out which was met with rejection, betrayal, and libel. You may not think it accurate or fair, but the belief is sincerely held.
