In August a group of organizations in Yorkton dealing with food security received a donation of 15 tons of potatoes from Second Harvest. All gone in two weeks. This is about that, and the recently formed food security committee who took on the challenge.

The architect designed the new facility based on his experience with LSD to get into the mindset of patients. That, along with the provincial government's move to decentralize psychiatric patient care so they are closer to home, made the new facility in Yorkton SK cutting edge in North America.

Kris Grunert, born and raised on a farm a few miles out of Yorkton, is an award-winning photographer. We talk about his commercial work for many large international corporations, as well as his personal photographic art. How he got into photography is a story in itself.

A new podcast from YorktonStories.ca... hockey legend Metro Prystai, born and raised in Yorkton SK Canada, talks about life before, during and after hockey. He played for the Chicago Blackhawks and @detroitredwingsnhl.bsky.social, winning two Stanley Cups and was a 3x allstar.

Back then, Yorkton was dominant in #volleyball in #Saskatchewan 🇨🇦. Boys high school teams won 9 consecutive provincial championships and a Yorkton girl went on to play for Canada in the 1996 Olympics. That's only part of the story. We talk with Shawn Sanford Beck, born and raised here in #Yorkton #SK #Canada. He was a member of the local St Andrew United Church in his youth, then became an Anglican priest. He has taken on a new role in the United Church. But he is not your conventional clergyman.

Our new podcast is about Hamton, a village north of Yorkton, SK Canada. After it was largely abandoned 40 years ago, the buildings stood, until on a Sunday morning in May of 2018, they all burned down. At www.yorktonstories.ca and all podcast directories. Search for Yorkton Stories.
