Good one by the Pope.
“How did you receive the foreigner? And did you receive him and welcome him or not?”

Pope Leo XIV challenges us to reflect on the moral cost of policies that target deeply-root immigrants and families.

Word.
Republicans will blame immigrants for everything, but stay silent on white supremacists, Jan 6th rioters, and school shootings. If y’all really cared as much as you claim you do, you’d call out all threats to our communities—not just the ones that fit your agenda.

Rikers Island is a disgrace to all New Yorkers. Should have been closed years ago.
I am counting on a major that has the stones to address and end these senseless tragedies for good. Cannot agree more with this.👇
Last night, yet another person died on Rikers Island — the fifth New Yorker to lose their life in City custody within the last two weeks and the 13th this year.

These deaths are a result of Eric Adams' failure to reckon with the crisis of violence and neglect in our jails.

This isn’t just a bill.

It’s a fundamental restructuring of American society in which the poor are abandoned, and “immigration jails” outrank healthcare.

Billions taken from one and given to the other.
Judd Legum explains 7 of the things in Trump's megabill:
1. Cuts $930B from Medicaid
2. 16M lose health ins
3. Slashes food asst for poor families by $186B
4. Lower incomes for bottom 40% of families
5. Increases deficit by $3.3T
6. $45B for new immigration jails
7. Billions for defense contractors
7 things everyone should know about Trump's megabill
The Republican reconciliation legislation, which Trump calls his "big, beautiful bill," is massive.
