My issue with “abundance” is that it’s a political agenda designed to play to the fixations of a narrow class of dudes who have been extremely incorrect about the trajectory of politics and whose obliviousness has in large part helped lead this country down a path of destruction
I think that building abundant housing, clean energy, and transit is good, and most of the backlash is from
1) people who have beef with Ezra Klein
2) people who for some reason think that “abundance” is the only message democrats will ever use and therefore will crowd out other issues

Yes! The country is quite literally descending into Hungarian-style autocracy and many of our most notable liberal voices are… wishcasting a policy agenda about housing regulations? It just feels like this is their happy place and they don’t really want to acknowledge how this hasn’t saved us before
I think also that there is I dunno a real danger of liberals reflexively falling back to comfortable technocratic concerns like Biden doing semiconductor subsidies as his approval tanked.Right now we need Hakeem Jeffries leading a gang of congressmen to break into the SSA not homebuilding proposals.

In February minors as young as 14 were cleaning kill floor equipment like head splitters, jaw pullers, and neck clippers.
Now another company was found doing the same.
