All of the #ashg25 FOMO. First time in a decade that I've not attended. 😥

I think a lot of people don't know this Zoom feature exists: under "React" there's a "Be Right Back" button that mutes your audio, turns off your camera, and puts a label on your square. And then when you come back you just click the "Back" button.

🚨Apparently GeneReviews is now being told to "prove their value" by the end of the week to the US government. They need letters of support sent to the Univ. of Washington editors: editor2@uw.edu.🚨

@geneticssociety.bsky.social -- are you aware and mobilizing your membership?

Finally found a chocolate chip cookie that I like: double thick miso walnut with dark chocolate and sea salt on top. Going into the rotation.

Everything about this resonates. From learning how to speak up to get a word in edgewise to my personal mantra of "head on a swivel" when going out.
Amiright ladies?

The men on Graham Norton’s sofa found self-defence a hoot. I’m sure most women have found ourselves in that conversation, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

Three more bakes and I'll hit 100 for the year. Bouncing back from last year's low of 80, but nowhere near the massive 150 set in 2020. Should I go for it?
(Will need to find inspiration and willing eaters.)

Now listening to @AdamRutherford speak on eugenics at #ASHG23 - sobering, engaging, and thought-provoking stuff. My hot takes: American exceptionalism and monogenic determinism is really effing things up.

Just wrote down the words"CRISPR-dCas9 epigenetic editing to treat Huntington's" and realized that 2010 me would not be able to understand what that means. Wow. #ashg2023

Top takeaways from Adv Dx for Rare Diseases: AI has good yield in id'ing potential dx and now being turned towards var calling; mild pheno abound, in CdLs and also in the GA4K results; genetics/genomics deserts are a thing and just b/c pts live near a genetics center, does not mean access. #ashg2023

Plenary I kicked off with a bang with a CRISPR-Cas9 non-viral delivery in Angelman and now loving Christina Falugi's presentation on implicit bias in traditional medical photographs as compared to "natural" photographs. #ASHG2023

What an absolute honor and joy it was to attend and present updates related to Pompe disease at the WORLDFair yesterday, as per invitation by the organizers. A unique opportunity to present to patient families and HCPs with some heartwarming interactions that I won't soon forget.

Anyone here headed to ASHG this year?

Had a lovely time presenting on Pompe disease to a group of Residents today. Great discussion and only one nodd-er off-er! (Lunchtime lectures in a warm room can be hard.)
