Sisters > Shikaku > Love is Blind > Clucking Chickens > Mermaid Rhapsody > Woke-Up-As-A-Girl Syndrome > Nayuta of the Prophecy > Sasaki Stopped a Bullet
top three are really good. bottom two did almost nothing for me. the rest are fine.

Cocoon's condensed runtime frustratingly works against it. I personally would've loved a more detail-specific prelude and bolder character writing from the get-go, but the flick still conveys the flimsy nature of free will amidst the horror of war with minimal whitewashing. Hits its genre baseline.

Li'l Miss Vampire Can't Suck Right takes Monogatari's initial vampire self-sacrifice deal and turns it into the most lightweight comedy ever. Production ain't bad, save for us almost never seeing the male lead's mouth (is that plot-relevant? TBD). I want to like this and kinda do, just not enough. ❌

their latest record is quickly cementing its place as my 2025 AOTY and they performed all but one song from it plus a handful of oldies and just generally kicked ass. so glad I got to see them on this tour

Before I knew it, fall turned into a "keep as little as possible" sort of season on my end, and my resolve means The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess doesn't stand a chance, but I do want to note its specific plot devices bode well for a savvier story than most of its kind. ❌

Wandance, a show whose primary themes are self-expression and compassion, is rendered moot by laughably inconsistent visuals. Almost all the dancing in this pilot was soulless, incongruous CG, actively sabotaging the appeal of the hobby itself. And the character work was heartfelt! This hurts, but ❌
