Some of the current WIPs for #showmeyourknits: pea soup inna sweater (it’ll get cuffs/collar/hem in the Nightshades bc the green isn’t quite a SQ). I got the Catvent (rainbow) un-stuck but then changed my mind on the motif. The cables are from Galloway Pullover to be a scrap busting pillow cover. 🧶
A chonky skein of black with faint yellow heathering yarn above the top section of a pullover, knit in the “frog” colorway of Rowan Yorkshire Tweed, which is a pea soup kind of green with yellow and turquoise neps. Pattern is Alicia Plummer’s Bibliophile 2. A piece of knitting with coral-purple-blue background and white contrast stitches, most of which make little cat faces but other abstract shapes are sprinkled in too. The blue sections are scrunched up, the rest got test blocked haha. Pattern is Catvent and yarn is the 2023 advent from An Caitín Beag. A pumpkin orange square of knitting with heavy cabling in the center. This is the main cable from Galloway Pullover and yes I should’ve made more even start and end choices but such is life. I’m using up leftover yarn in this, so the back (not visible) will have a section of dark gray and maybe some light gray too. We shall find out!

Some of the Pueblo blue flour corn that’s going, fingers crossed for it!! Was trying to do 3 sisters but the goddamn roly-polies ate almost all the bean & squash seedlings. Just replanted beans again (& a few other things) but don’t have more squash w/ a short enough period for our season. Oh well.

One of my favorite things about making knitted garments is the *texture* options. Both of these have a couple! Green is Audrey Borrego’s Sophorine pattern in green tencel from a yarn swap a few years ago, blue is the Mt Robson sweater for my spouse in Purl Soho Linen Quill. #knitting 🧶

Tomatoes are in!! I beat back the clary sage a little more (at least it’s compost fuel) & did a tiny bit of cleanup (I don’t aim for a tidy garden but things were getting in the way). Here’s hoping the soil temps are suitable for the rest of the veggies soon! 🌱

Tiny blue-purple bell-shaped wildflowers (maybe lanceleaf chiming bells or some other Mertensia sp?) Small bright yellow somewhat cylindrical wildflowers just opening among partially green shortgrass prairie plants. I think they’re either bladderpod (Lesquerella montana) or fiddle-leaf twin pod (Physeria vitulifera) Sand lily (Leucrocrinum montanum), one of my favorite wildflowers! Small white lily blooms with long thin grass-blade leaves, and they smell good (although you have to get really close) I still can’t identify these bushes, haha. Light brown smooth bark with some thorns, right now it only has fuzzy chartreuse floral bits but it will have small pointed oval leaves and small dark blue berries later on.

Still too early for warm season stuff but there’s a few things up. This arugula overwintered and bolted pretty early, so I figured I’d just let it make some free seeds! Plus some garlic and semi-volunteer cabbage and radish

Pattern is ‘I Shawl Choose My Own Path,’ in Purl Soho Line Weight (I don’t know if they still make this color and yarn combo). About 30g/170 yards more of the mesh lace pattern, then I’ll continue the side braid around the edge for a bindoff.
