Words can’t express the joy I felt when I can finally share my videos after months of work.
Finally, I could completely indulged my obsessions with logic, details, and thoroughness.

Welcome to my mind, people 🌱

Please help me reach more audience by sharing my post. Thx!🤍

Finally, it’s raining.

If you like rain as much as I do, here’s a little music for you. (Music: me. Art work: me.)

Have a peaceful evening, people.

Be calm, be warm, and be strong.

My teenage daughter is making me a gift.

So much beauty 🌹… And she said she hated it.

“I had a vision but am not able to execute it,” she said in tears.

Ask an artist not to judge herself too harshly = ask a rose not to bloom 🙃

“Out of the 30+ discouraged students I’ve worked with, each convinced they were hopelessly tone-deaf, not a single one actually was! ✨”

I’m creating a series of articles/videos for “tone-dead” people finding their way in singing.

Happy exploring, people! 🌹
Stop Calling Yourself “Tone-Deaf”— You’re Most Likely Not!
(Video description: Singing off-pitch often stems from information overload, not “tone-deafness.” This applies to both experienced musicians and those who believe they are “tone-deaf.”)

My daughter (watching me play Overwatch): look, mommy, you have the highest heal.

Me: I’m a healer. I’m supposed to heal~

My daughter: yeah, I meant you’re the highest among all the healers. Everything is competition, mommy… You have to be the best to SURVIVE!

(Randomly lecturing me~~~🐳)

I looked at the video and realized the postures looked much easier than they actually were.

They take a lot of energy, focus, and an intention of finding ease and calmness.

But I think the calmness that I was seeking was found.

I’m happy.

Good morning, people, and have a joyous calm day ☁️

I have a special spot in my heart for sundaes.

On some day of March many many many years ago, I met @drhueyli. I remember we ate a lot of sundaes, chocolate for Huey and strawberry for me.

I don’t even like ice creams much. But I liked him and still like him very much.

Happy March!

Every time when I ask people to help me on my projects and they say “yes”, I always feel incredibly wealthy.

Every time when I post things on social media about having people to work with, I always feel that I’m showing off my wealth.

Thank you for making me feel wealthy, my friends🤍🤍🤍

My baby girl went away for a few days to a (not-so-far-) far-away place with her team of explorers for a competition.

I sent her a message requesting photos, being the romantic me.

I have already had a name for one of my future albums: ✨Through Children’s Eyes✨

Concert tonight! Scott Robinson with Maria Schneider and the orchestra!

In today’s studio class, the guest artist Scott Robinson talked about how he coped with the psychological part of being a musician.

"Snap Crackle: The Music of Roy Haynes" concert tonight!
I arranged Chick Corea's "Bud Powell" for this concert.

I was choosing a tune from Chick Corea's album "Remembering Bud Powell."

How fun it was watching this group of lovely people rehearsing my tune “Lani on the Tree”!

Lani is the baby tiger at the Miami zoo. On a magic day in 2004, she made her legendary walk on the tree. I was fortunate enough to witness it!

Yes, if we have a way to quantity “best”, it would be much easier! The problem that bothers many of us “good students” is exactly that one doesn’t know when to tell yourself “I’ve done my best.” Especially, each one’s threshold is different!
Setting high unachievable standard is also called perfectionism (perfectionisme in French). It results in setting up one to fail (as perfection is not in this realm).
I guess doing your best might be a better approach.

I read an article this morning titled “why is everything becoming a game” by author Gurwinder Bhogal.
The subject that the article talks about, human autonomy, is what I’m always fascinated about.

I have always been a very conscientious student/learner/worker.

So conscientious that oftentimes my willingness and effort to do “the right things” is hurting me.
I would set a high standard 100 times higher and get frustrated when I can’t achieve.

Over-effort.
I call it “good student syndrome”

Today I finished my first orchestra mockup in Pro Tools. I felt incredibly satisfied, not because of the quality of my final product, but the procedure that I figured out along the way.

Yes, procedure.
It quiets the mind, guides the planning, ensures the execution.
