The truth will make you cry
so follow the liars
tho' they lead you to destruction
you'll have a smile on your face
The bad news is that the ultimate result will be fossil fuel companies getting government tax breaks and other goodies for useless busy work instead of government money going to actual, real, worthwhile alternative energy investments.

The good news is that burning hydrogen made from methane is so much more expensive than just simply burning the methane in the first place that there ain't no fuel users gonna fall for that trick.

I'm sorry but "more of the same" except paid by government is nation-draining, not nation-building. It's just business as usual.

Instead of giving gobs of cash to foreign companies to build battery plants that they decided not to build, why not build our own? Why not make it easy for Asian countries to set up shop? Why not build Chinese cars here instead of refusing to import them? Let the yanks take their toys and go home.

Why not remove the regulations preventing Alberta from becoming a solar/wind super-power? Why not build a HVDC corridor from Alberta to Ontario instead of more stinking nuclear in Ontario and more stinking oil in Alberta? Let's be bold, FFS.

This is all just more of the same, but with a different marketing team at the helm.

I'm not saying these projects are without benefits, but jeez louise, they're not great big nation building projects the likes of which have never before been seen. We've been mining, port-building, and digging oil out of the sand forever.

Alberta CCS: Purpose of this is to "de-carbonize" (ha!) Alberta oil so more oil can be exported under the theory that "clean" oil is in greater demand than cheap oil. Dream on.

Red Chris Mine Expansion: Out in the middle of nowhere, making a big hole in the ground even bigger. Necessary maybe, but not that hard.

Saskatchewan Copper Mine: Has nobody dug a big hole in the ground before?

Port of Churchill Plus: Ooooo... "Plus". That sounds Major. That "plus" bit must be because it'll be a "dual-use gateway" whatever that is. Plus it'll "more strongly link Churchill to the rest of Canada". Population of Churchill: 870.

Montreal Port Capacity Increase: Really? I suppose if it was the world's first port, or even Canada's first port, it would be something. But ports are dime-a-dozen commodities. Every man-jack and his brother has at least two.

Darlington Nuclear Expansion: Sorry but building four American SMRs on-site instead of another CANDU reactor is not bold. Building the world's first SMR factory would be bold and nation-building, but buying yankee junk is a regression. (so is more nuclear, btw)

LNG Canada Phase 2: Is this a joke? The project was designed from the get-go to be built in two phases. It's purpose is to generate great gobs of gas for Asia and great gobs of money for Wall Street. Meanwhile, locals got letters from their gas company warning that rates will double this winter.
