I HATE when people compare AI to the printing press, it's so disingenuous. The printing press was opposed by the elites because it put power in the hands of everyday people, and popularized a vernacular. AI does the opposite, by allowing elites to bypass artists and laborers.

Sarah, do you organize your vault using the PARA method as folders? I've set up mine using the method described here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSTy... - but today is the first day I am actually going to try to use a second brain!

A big challenge, as you identified, is doing this at scale.

Do you listen to the @thesiswhisperer.bsky.social podcast On the Reg? They have talked about obsidian and second brain some. I'm a little anxious about trying to integrate both the second brain methodology and the new software at the same time 😬

I just finally read the newsletter and squee-ed because my first plan for my sabbatical is to start using Obsidian as a second brain. And I am intimidated!! I want an little space to chit-chat about academics using Obsidian - I wonder if that already exists...

We can be concerned about multiple things at the same time. And I presume you, like myself, don't know what else these scholars are using their time & energy on. But more on principle: If inclusion of indigenous knowledge(s) & people had been taken seriously we likely wouldn't be where we are now.

The article was mostly not about decolonizing language. You are very quick to say indigenous scholars deserve a hell - really?? You're showing yourself. Did you even read the article?
