Bea sipped on her tea as she stared at the TV where a Christmas movie was playing "Beatrice?" "Sorry, did you say something dad?" "Yeah, I was just asking if you wanted to change the movie." "No, it's okay, dad." Bea sipped her tea again. "Okay, forgive me if this is very off, I am a little rusty at this dad thing, but what's going on? Are you okay?" "Yeah, im okay, dad." Her dad gave her ad, essening Her dad let's it go until Beatrice sighed loudly. "Okay, that sigh was not nothing." "Okay, yeah, you're right, dad." "About what, honey?" "First, I really am having fun here. I am glad that we reconnected and spent Christmas eve together." "But?" "But, I can't help but think about Ava and Matteo. About what could have been." "They really got to you, huh?" Bea's dad smiled. "You know, l've always thought you'd be a good mom." "How? I didn't even have siblings." "No, but the way you cared for your cousins and the kids you babysat." Her dad paused, "There's a lot of love there. You cared for them not just because it was your responsibility." "Yeah?" "I know so. It could be Matteo that you'll care for and love, but I know that you'll be a good mom." "You really think so, Dad? About Matteo, and well, Ava?" "I have never seen you care about anyone you've dated like this. It hasn't been long but it feels like they already have a special place in your heart." Bea sighed and smiled, "They do." "Then, what are you doing here, Beatrice?" "What do you mean, dad?" "Beatrice, life is messy and confusing. It doesn't always go the way you think it should, but." "Life works out, the way it's meant to be." Bea finished. "Yes, but it doesn't just happen. The universe led you to meet Ava and Matteo, but now? Now, you have to fight for what you love. Because everyday, you have to make a decision to choose the people you love. So, go and tell Ava and Matteo how you feel. Give yourself the opportunity to let this bloom into something more beautiful than it already is." "Dad, what are you saying?" "Oh my god, Beatrice, I know you're not this dense." Her dad laughed a little bit. "Oh come on!" "I'm telling you to go on a plane to Christmastown and tell Ava and Matteo that you love them." "Oh." Bea said. "You know Dad? You are not rusty at this at all." Bea hugged her dad and whispered her thank you. "So, are you going or what?" Her dad joked. "Oh my god, give me time to check my phone and see what the next flight is to Christmastown!" They both giggled. And Beatrice pulled out her phone to check the earliest flights. "Oh my god, dad!" "What is it?" "There's a 10pm flight to Denver and if I drive, I'll be at Christmastown by 9am." "Is that significant?" "Yes! Ava mentioned that they open Christmas gifts around that time." "Okay, then book it and your rental. Do you have a gift for them?" "I... took some toys from San Francisco for Matteo." "What did I tell you? Life works out." Her dad smiled

My friend, she’s waiting for me,” Ava doesn’t want to leave but knows Mary will kill her. She doesn’t know how, but she managed to get late for one hour.
