i've been on such a rampage today about the terrifier movies and the director likeeeeee i cannot with this man.
Not the creator of the terrifier movies coming out with the wildest take about not wanting to be political and only watching horror movies solely for the enjoyment like horror movies haven't been a catalyst since the dawn of time to speak up on social and political issues, especially queerness. Like that just feels so fuckin ignorant to me I can't lie. "Terrifier isn't a political film" okay then, great. But it sure is a misogynistic franchise so if it isn't political then I'm gonna assume that the reason the guys get quick deaths and women get mutilated by their tits and get chainsawed from their vagina, I'm just gonna assume your enjoyment of that is actually based in a desire of wishing you could do that - explain it. Because it's definitely not political right Women in horror are subject to all kinds of abuse all the time which is a DIRECT response to the patriarchal systems of our society. Not saying horror can't include it because obviously we wouldn't have the great movies we have now, but I just think it's bare fucking ignorant to either choose to ignore or to just be completely unaware that horror will always be the genre to bare these issues in their rawest form and the reason most people enjoy these movies (mostly women & lgbtqia+) is because there's something deeply, disgustingly relatable to their lived experiences within it. Also why even bother writing a whole testament of basically nothing. Some people really just need to know when to shut the fuck up tbh But yeah, I never liked this franchise, it was giving me weird vibes and I think the director is a fuckin tool tbh. We don't need more men creating horror movies so nonchalantly imo
