My eyes were fixed eastward, 👀 and here in southern Germany we didn’t share the luck of our North American friends who witnessed a breathtaking show (I retweeted it earlier). So here it is, ladies and gentlemen — a 30-second glimpse of the Orion Nebula.

The bubble #nebulae spans ~7 light-years (almost twice the distance between us and Proxima Centauri) and is still expanding into the surrounding molecular cloud. CS ✨🔭

Tonight, shortly after sunset, look south to see #Capricornus, one of the most recognisable zodiac constellations, appearing as a celestial goat with its distinctive 'horns' pointing skywards. To ancient astronomers, it symbolised the cyclical nature of time and the balance between land and sea....
