I think @alexvont.bsky.social if the @bunkerpod.bsky.social might want to listen to @therestpolitics.bsky.social as they seem to have the answer!

In the sequel his front is running a canal-side fashion boutique in Utrecht, but he’s likely teamed up with Van Der Valk to solve canal-based crime.

The commemorative statue of Truus van Lier by the canal in Utrecht. She was a member of the Dutch resistance during the Nazi occupation.

Mine too. Brilliant gig, part concert, part standup, part history lesson. Damn curfews, he could have gone on all night!

I heard that Google had renamed the Gulf of Mexico for US users, I wondered what us over here might see! Apple are holding out. Neither has renamed Denali yet.

Murphy’s instead of Guinness? How about trying a decent stout or porter from an independent brewery?

The Connections game at NYT today has a nice nod towards David Lynch. I guess they couldn’t find any way of connecting Mulholland! I assume the Jack Dee reference is accidental.

Not only power sockets and USB, but wireless charging too! And it works. Oh, decent free WiFi too. #OBB

Damn @microsoft.com getting a text message made 2FA easy on an iPhone. Now I have to switch between to get my code!

The political use of the hyphen over the ampersand!

(Yes, if he’s going to claim he was 46 he really should use an en-dash, but that’s another discussion.)

I finally have them both, Ebony Steel Band and The Routes cover compilations of Kraftwerk songs, Pan Machine and The Twang Machine, steel drums and surf guitar! Both are lush!

My running, rollerskiing and XC skiing summary for 2024. Not great, but better than 2023. Nowhere near the peak of 2020, I wonder what happened that year to give me such freedom to get out and run most days! The one marathon was completely untrained-for and a very weird one given the tides.

This fantastic album joins Reverberation Addict and The Twang Machine on my record shelves.

The cover by @malcolmgarrett.bsky.social and Peter Saville is a fabulous take on the original, right down to the textured card outer sleeve, the detail on the inner sleeve, the doorway and the names of the two sides.

The Holy Trinity of surf-guitar covers albums! The Routes Surfin’ Pleasures vinyl arrived in this morning’s post. It is an object of aural and visual beauty. Imagine all your Joy Division favourites as surf-guitar instrumentals, yes it’s that perfect.

Watching the fourth series of Slow Horses, I notice that the “brilliant hacker” Roddy Ho has a copy of the definitive XML reference book in his desk. I know we (well, we software people) occasionally have to get our hands dirty with XML, but Roddy Ho?
