Watched Womontown* recently. I'm not a fan of communes, but I can't stop thinking about the idea of intentional urban communities. I enjoyed learning this history.

I think this article is important. For all the talk of leftists I think safe Republicans are retiring because they fear their own voters.

I put together a primer on Charlie Kirk — and paid some special attention to his relationship with Nick Fuentes and the Groyper movement.

There's no hot takes or sweeping declarations. Just some useful background. www.bugeyedandshameless.com/p/who-was-ch...
Who Was Charlie Kirk, Anyway?
Kirk occupied a uniquely powerful place in the MAGA movement

Still doing amazing reporting in San Antonio about Austin. Found a couple things in here I can't wait to do.

"Thursday murder club" has many flaws, but the main plot is entitled boomers living in giant penthouse apartments in a manor house turned old folks home protesting a developer trying to build luxury apartments on top of a graveyard. And that's not even the most tone deaf part of the movie.

This construction has fixed traffic on IH35. Pack it up, problem solved.* I have now had 3 full speed trips through downtown in the last 2 days.

*I mean obviously don't pack it up. Just leave as is.

I’m willing to argue that urban areas have a societal duty to build enough housing for projected climate migrations particularly from areas that will become practically uninsurable due to fire, flood, sea level rise, and more

The rats are getting a little too brazen. Saw two chugging by outside in full daylight.
Although this is a problem that will probably solve itself -- what with the hawks and cats and coyotes.

I mean think how many different coalitions you'd have in the house if there were 1300 reps..

The best way to solve this is to make the number of representatives proportionate to the population, so as it grows so does the house. Rather than having representation fall as the population grows. The current number was ser when us pop was 109mil now 3x that. Need 1300+ reps.

there are plenty of stories of people doing things that would give you hope right now, and also it's actually not safe to report a lot of them. it's a big adjustment for trying to understand what's happening in america and i don't know what to do with it

Let's say a leader decided to "occupy" a city in their own country. If city residents don't really notice or care doesn't that make you look impotent and your military useless?

A journalist tried out Tesla's "Robotaxi" in Austin. Two human interventions on their first ride.

The "robotaxi" ignored two Do Not Enter signs and tried to drive the wrong way down a one way street!

The Austin rollout is a stock pump. Tesla doesn't have self-driving software.

There should not be any zone where it’s illegal to open a coffee shop or a convenience store
In Chicago, an easy parallel (although even these are much larger than the bottom of the scale in many other cities!) is side street businesses--many of the most beloved bars and restaurants are survivors of the 1957 zoning ban on side street commercial uses

One of the most important things I had to unlearn from my childhood in a white-only town was something all white children are taught: that all white people are inherently good and can change if given the benefit of the doubt.

That’s a lie.

Racists will not change and can’t be talked out of it.
The majority of white voters will vote MAGA in the next election. As I've said, I'm not arguing with y'all about this again. Go join the line of very wrong people over the past 80 years that always think that "This time it's different(TM).🤡"

This time it's not different.

It's the same foolishness.
