Not as done as I thought.
Even with frost on the ground the past few mornings, the blanket flowers new buds have bloomed.

Jethro Tull Tickseed still going strong. The blanket flowers have a bunch of new heads on them, but I think they will soon be done for the season, though I still see the odd bee on them.

Finally gave up on my last pumpkin getting any bigger. So, four plants and each yielded one pumpkin. A sad showing. Banana for scale.

The Howl jacket, in all its glory.

Now I can never see again, as I have sewn my masterpiece and nothing shall approach its greatness 🔥

Bias tape acquired, and cuffs complete!
October 10, 2025 at 7:38 PM
Cuffs assembled and ready for bias tape. Shouldn’t take too long once I get the bias tape.

I figured out the collar on the first try. Time to quit for the night, before I mess something up 😅 … I’m thrilled with the progress I made today though.

Outershell sewn!

Top diamonds aren’t lining up bilaterally, but that’s just not my problem 🤷‍♀️
October 8, 2025 at 6:51 PM
I was trying to find the other half… and well, I guess that scrap I grabbed to make the collar out of was not a scrap 😅

Thankfully, I have lots of pink material left. Phew.

One side done! (I realized too late I sewed one on slightly askew, oh well)

Today we tackle the diamonds.

I ended up finding new blue material— I was worried I didn’t have enough of the old stuff. It’s very slippy.

I don’t have hem tape (nor have I ever used it), sewing clips won’t work, pins will leave holes… so I’m using painter’s tape… and it’s working out well.

We got a lining! It’s good from far, but far from good… but thankfully all the messy seams will be hidden by the lining

I drafted a mandarin collar pattern yesterday, and a sleeve pattern today. Never drafted a pattern before, hopefully never will again. But the test sleeve worked! The sleeves were one of my biggest hurdles, so needless to say, I’m thrilled

After a decade of meaning to, I’ve finally started on a Howl jacket for my sibling.

Very rusty sewing skills, only 5 more days to finish it, all thrifted material (including vintage pattern that is missing the sleeves 😑). Wish me luck.

That said, I’m pleased with today’s progress.

I shoulda sprinkled some sage on after the fact, to zhuzh it up… but it tastes delicious and I’m more about taste than looks anyway.

I wish I could share the smell too, because it’s heavenly… but honestly, if we could do that, I’d likely use that power for more evil than good 😈

I thought I was just pulling some weeds from my bed, since the greens had been eaten off and it was just bare stalks, but it turns out I grew three very smol dragon carrots. 😅

The blanket flowers are really filling out. Hyssop has been a bit lacklustre, though doing better since I moved them to the left vs centre. Tickseed are lovely.

My Rose of Sharon (75% off) finally has some buds.

Something has been going to town on the dead hedge. Woodpecker or raccoon are where I’m leaning.

The bees love the PeeGee.

Also had two female pumpkins bloom this week that I was able to hand pollinate. I’m hoping cooler & less dry weather will have these two surpass my older two pumpkins (that have stalled out at about softball size for the last month).

My pepper plant has yet to bear fruit, but I’m so pleased with how well and its companion nasturtiums look.
