Backgrounds are pretty cool for commanders like Karona, but you need to read the cards carefully. @edhrec.com has Agent of the Shadow Thieves in twice as many decks as this one, whose negative upkeep ability will most likely not trigger all game.

@edhrec.com has only 0.32% of Dina (23 decks) with Asmodeus; seems like a missed opportunity. After the second activated ability of Asmodeus is on the stack, Dina can sacrifice Asmodeus before you draw the cards, avoiding taking any damage. 4-mana: draw 7, pump +6/+0 on Dina seems like a good deal.

Though I think maybe the most fun new commander to pair it with is The War Doctor.

Radiant Performer is disturbingly good theft decks, including with some newer commanders.

Now that makes for a big Simic swing...
