Tropical SST pattern interesting between 2013 and this year... I know Paul has mentioned this warm/cool dateline split before in potential for central/eastern US cold patterns. But North Pac SSTs different (although I don't subscribe less to the influence of non-trop SST feedbacks)

Seems we're also seeing the impacts from the very strong stratospheric Polar Vortex reflecting anomalous wave activity from the unusually amplified tropospheric North Pacific pattern. @simonleewx.com did you guys find that a stronger PV increases the likelihood of these wave reflection events?
