Hot and humid summer day turned downpour. Happy that we got off the deck about 5 minutes before it poured, but I bet a lot of people in Canal Park were surprised!

It’s always fascinating to see how a decaying thunderstorm complex falls apart as it outruns the best instability/forcing.

This cloud-to-ground lightning strike west of Carlton is a great example of why these isolated pop up storms - difficult to predict with neighborhood-level precision more than minutes out - can produce lightning with little to no warning. #MNwx

Smoke from a wildfire (“Camphouse Fire”) in east-central St Louis County near Brimson visible on radar imagery. Estimated size 150-200 acres per various reports.

That line fell apart over the lake but still another storm to the west that could drift north… what a pain in the neck. Not a bad call to delay but could’ve had a few innings in by this point.
