After my heart attack, I couldn't understand it.
I was training harder than ever, eating carbs for energy.
Turns out I was creating chronic stress.
My training was sabotaging my health.
Sometimes more isn't better—it's dangerous!

I used to think walking during a marathon was embarrassing.
Now I plan strategic walk breaks at miles 10, 12, and 22.
My ego wanted to run every step.
My wisdom wants to finish strong.
Adaptation isn't failure—it's intelligence!

At 62, I was constantly hungry and sleepy after lunch.
Thought it was just part of being a serious athlete.
Then I did Dr. Maffetone's 2-week test.
Lost 10 pounds I'd carried for 20 years.
Sometimes what we think fuels us actually sabotages us! #Running

But you're not going to live in a protected bubble.

"No way, I just passed a stress test!"

That's what I told the nurse when she said my Troponin levels were off the charts.

Turns out you can pass a stress test and still have a heart attack two weeks later.

My lesson: Don't second-guess symptoms.

Get to the hospital immediately.

Your running watch says you're getting slower.
Your doctor says your heart is stronger.
Your ego wants faster splits.
Your body wants more years.
Choose wisely.

Just finished my 1st run 3 weeks after my heart attack. Went great, even with walk breaks. On the way back to running again! #running
