I'm not sure it's in the self interest of America's tech bro billionaires to suggest that we bring back public executions to punish the most destructive people in our society.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

Dem leadership,

Please run three types of ads, now until midterms:

1. Masked ICE abduction videos, “Trump’s America” (urban)

2. Farmers going bankrupt en mass, “Trump Tariffs Killed US Farms” (rural)

3. Epstein with Trump pics, “Republicans Protect Pedophiles” (everywhere)

Do this, you win.

Thing about all these cases going to SCOTUS deciding presidential powers, this president is probably less involved in the actual day-to-day exercise of power than any other in history. Mostly the Court is deciding that Stephen Miller & Vought & Hegseth & Kennedy can do whatever they want.

a coup in black robes
I've posted this a million times, but here is the million-and-first:

In 2000, these people were all on GW Bush's "Florida Recount" team:
- John "Just Calling Balls and Strikes" Roberts
- Brett "Roe is 'Settled Law' " Kavanaugh
- Amy "Confirmed 1 week before election" Barrett

In 2025 ... they rule

Since plague historians have the attention of vulcanologists & climate historians/scientists for a hot minute, let me throw out some notes on a #YersiniaPestis study that came out several months ago, but whose historical implications weren't immediately obvious. W/ this graph in mind, here's mini-🧵.
The omission is esp. odd b/c the potential volcano-plague connection has been sitting there in plain view for 5 years. Not the 1345 volcano, which is the new & valuable element of today's study. But an earlier & waaaay bigger one: Samalas in 1257. Here's fig S2 from today's study, which I've marked.

The one year anniversary of Yoon's failed martial law takeover just passed and lots of untold stories came out proving that THE ONLY REASON KOREA IS STILL A FREE COUNTRY IS BECAUSE PEOPLE DISOBEYED ILLEGAL ORDERS.

The coup was over in hours because people said no.

I want to make a different point from the one I made this AM: If this was a Kavanaugh stop it's complete BS as it's visually clear that this woman is not from any of the ethnic groups Trump et al want gone. This was straight up done to generate video to establish a competitive system of control.
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

Egg producers suspect bird flu is traveling through the air.

After a disastrous Midwestern outbreak early this year, we tested that theory and found that where the wind blew, the virus followed.

Vaccines could help, but the USDA hasn’t approved them.

it is hard to overstate how amazing replacing coal with renewables will be for air quality in inland china in particular. like absolutely transformative, with huge knock-on beneficial health effects for both people and the ecosystem.
People used to say, with great confidence, that variable renewables could never safely provide more than 5% of grid power. That estimate has crept up ever since, though the "great confidence" part never wavers.

Anyway, about China ...
