This is actually pretty smart. You see the story develop as it comes into focus. I've got mine down to 4 drafts, but I spend a lot more time thinking and with draft change thoughts/change notes. Had to write some discovery writer story planning/writing software to do it. =)) But may be possible.

I think I should write something where everyone's subtext from their head is shown. 😁 Could be fun.

This. This is exactly right. Not a screenwriter, but a novelist, and sometimes my mistakes are truly the best things that have happened to me. Sometimes they are better than what I plan, and other times I learn a ton, from the doing. Practice as they say. Learned when to let the story tell itself.

In case it helps, I feel this, sometimes it takes a bit to find the right angle and even words for a story. For me, it usually means I need to find the right story angle, think a smidge different about something. Sometimes I'm holding on to something I need to change, before the story clicks.

Agree! Writing a story is truly like discovering for me. It's like reading for me. =) But this also means I need to story plan a bit/plot a bit after I do the first draft to get ready to publish. Which is great, because it then lets me discover again in the second draft writing.
