John here. Sorry Russell - no excuses. I unaccountably forgot to mention it even though I have the blu-ray somewhere. I’ll cover it in the blog.

I seem to remember if was referred to by several critics as “The Gory Boys”, particularly because someone threw themselves on a grenade in the first episode and exploded in slow motion. My memory is that it was dreadful, but I‘d quite like to see it again.

Yes, I know it well. Would have mentioned it but there were too many things to fit in. We’ll get to Elephant eventually.

I think he was a bit overwhelmed by the response - word went around that he was in the building and pretty much everyone came out to meet him, we had around 25 staff at the time. We had to show him stuff on film from our Steenbeck - it was that long ago

I thoroughly enjoyed the Edge of Darkness episode too - shortly after we started Double Negative in 1998 Troy Kennedy Martin turned up in our reception unannounced, I think his niece or other in-law was working with us. He wanted to learn about VFX and we were very happy to answer his questions

Wow. I love the idea of TKM suddenly turning up for a chat.

Thanks, Paul. I'm not aware of the Blue Peter, but it sounds very likely. I'll look it up in the vast Blue Peter episode guide I have somewhere.

Neil: Everything's fine. I've just caught a cold and have fallen behind a bit.

Yes, filmed at Lancaster, but associated with the UEA because Bradbury was based there. The senior managment at the UEA were not happy that the controversy of the series reflected on them even though it wasn't filmed there.

And thanks for the tip about UEA.
