Our next episode has been postponed until tomorrow as I wrestle with this weird Audacity problem that has knackered everything. Sorry about that.

John here: Apologies but for various reasons there won't be a newsletter today. Normal service will be resumed for Whoops Apocalypse.

I think he was a bit overwhelmed by the response - word went around that he was in the building and pretty much everyone came out to meet him, we had around 25 staff at the time. We had to show him stuff on film from our Steenbeck - it was that long ago

I thoroughly enjoyed the Edge of Darkness episode too - shortly after we started Double Negative in 1998 Troy Kennedy Martin turned up in our reception unannounced, I think his niece or other in-law was working with us. He wanted to learn about VFX and we were very happy to answer his questions

An update on the Radio Times mystery. We have it on good authority that Philippa Urquhart was never cast as Rose Marie, and so the Radio Times photo looks like a simple error.
Our latest newsletter has just been sent out to subscribers. This time it's about A Very Peculiar Practice, Shepherd's Bush, and the Andrew Davies multiverse. Also, there's something a bit weird in the 17th May 1986 issue of the Radio Times... worldoftelly.beehiiv.com/p/a-very-pec...

I've only just noticed that Ravensbourne has added scans of Bob Cosford's storyboard for his original concept, which is quite different, possibly bleaker and involves two animated crows that sing along to the chorus of the sig tune.

I suspect that was done to obscure any connection with the UEA skyline, which I believe had a similar tower at that time. UEA had been approached for location filming and declined. www.ravensbourne.ac.uk/bbc-motion-g...

An interesting AVPP curio is the original version of the title sequence at the Ravensbourne archive. The musical intro is two bars longer and the university skyline features a tower that's been painted out of the broadcast version.
