Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post would not run this ad. This is the power of oligarchy.

It's definitely winter when the dark-eyed juncos show up in Tennessee. (Especially when they're sitting in the snow.)

Anyone need a happy little tufted titmouse today?

It's the last day of a tough year, and I hope everyone is feeling love, like this #monkey mom holding her baby in Kenya. 💖

More cheetah, because they think they're funny. 🐆

Winners never cheat, but cheetahs... cheetahs always win. 🐆

Antelopes are perfectly beautiful and graceful species. Here a waterbuck (front, with the heart-shaped nose) and an impala strike mirrored poses for me in #Kenya.

Well hey, lil' tufted titmouse, all swaddled in autumn colors.

This little guy makes me so happy. Just be-boppin' along behind Mom, crossing the road to get to the other side.

Seems like a good day for a lilac-breasted roller, one of my favorite #birds ever.

This beauty was in Kruger National Park in South Africa. Flying rainbows!

Still hoping to build my wildlife/conservation photo community on here! So here's a second lion photo, because everyone loves kitties.

Anyone feeling like a roar? Going to post a few lions over the next few days.

Pelicans -- gawky, ungainly #birds most of the time, but at others times they're a synchronized pure attack squadron of death.

This one just paddled right by me, though.

It's snake-sharing time on #herps! Beautiful West African Gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica). His brown and cream coloring looks like fallen leaves.

This guy's got the longest fangs -- 2 inches! -- and the highest venom yield of any venomous snake.

Visiting a couple of grey go-away-birds (Crinifer concolor) in #Africa.

Beautiful, big #birds. They make the coolest loud call, drawling it out like a scary demon in a horror movie. Google it, it's neat.

Happy Wednesday -- I hope you see some #birds today!

And that you have a nice snack, like this red-winged blackbird snapping up a waterbug.

Look closely at its wings, and you'll see reflections of the sunlight on the water.

Small break from wildlife and wild spaces to post this lovely man... a #Maasai elder from a tiny village near Il Ngwesi, Kenya, makes a fire the traditional way, with just a stick and wood. Their Shuka cloths are always so beautiful.

PART TWO of my blue-footed #booby appreciation post. I stood in the water for hours with small sharks, just trying to catch this moment when streaking boobys hit the water at 60mph.

They are amazing!

(See my previous post for the beginning of the dive.)

I love this bird: a blue-footed #booby in full spread at the beginning of a dive.

They dive from 80 feet, and fold their wings midway through gain speed, hitting 60 miles per hour (100kph)! That takes them as deep as 65 feet to snag fish. It's incredible to see. #birds #Galapagos

A Nazca #booby pulls out a perfect feather while preening itself in the Galápagos Islands.

#birds preen to clean and separate their feathers, get rid of parasites and just generally take care of their waterproof/aerodynamic feathers. 🪶

The stripe pattern on every #zebra is different, like our fingerprints. BUT... blow this up and look closely at the faces of this mom and calf in Kenya, and how very similar the shapes are.
Genetics!
