I like to help wildlife with sympathetic gardening and being a dragonfly perch!
I planted bare root Spindle two and three years ago. Three young trees have the odd fruit on and Autumnal leaves, but two were stripped bare by Ermin caterpillars and recovered, but no fruit.

Prolific in our rewilded garden and covered in all sorts, but three years on now and still no stripey caterpillars.

Me too. First Ringlet in our garden since we moved in, flitting amongst the grasses. (Not in this pic.)

Good idea, it might grab somebody’s attention and make them think.

90% of our bee hotels are occupied, so I made another one! This one has access to the cavity in the pitched roof for anything that needs somewhere to over Winter.

I phone photoed (without my glasses on) a shiny black beetle on lavender, I thought might be some kind of ladybird. When I looked on my phone (with glasses) and zoomed in, it turned out to be a beautiful Rosemary Beetle. New to me!

Great photo. I’m always late and just find the exuvia on plant stems. This is from May last year. Not sure what it is.

First job in my garden this morning is pull a clump up that has appeared. Unfortunately plant sellers are only interested in making money and are probably totally ignorant of the impact on native UK flora and fauna.

Agree. The gamekeeper is employed by the land owner or estate manager, so they are responsible for his actions.

Just like the local Swifts, the Maybugs are a few days early!

I’d love to know how many birds have fledged from the Tit,Robin and Sparrow boxes I have put up in my own and friends and family’s gardens over the years. Made my first box when I was about nine and am still making them fifty odd years later.

It’s getting a bit tense now, we are due a win. We definitely need some points to keep Khalsa at bay.

An increasingly rare flyover bird of my suburban garden, makes coming across a colony in a village very special.

It doesn’t matter where you go, a birder is always birding.

Are the eggs on Alder Buckthorn?

Had my first actually in the garden this week. Hopefully as our nature friendly garden creates more cover, a pair may make it the home, a male sings all spring in the park over the road.
