I like to help wildlife with sympathetic gardening and being a dragonfly perch!
Update. We found three caterpillars!

Prolific in our rewilded garden and covered in all sorts, but three years on now and still no stripey caterpillars.

Me too. First Ringlet in our garden since we moved in, flitting amongst the grasses. (Not in this pic.)

90% of our bee hotels are occupied, so I made another one! This one has access to the cavity in the pitched roof for anything that needs somewhere to over Winter.

I phone photoed (without my glasses on) a shiny black beetle on lavender, I thought might be some kind of ladybird. When I looked on my phone (with glasses) and zoomed in, it turned out to be a beautiful Rosemary Beetle. New to me!

Great photo. I’m always late and just find the exuvia on plant stems. This is from May last year. Not sure what it is.

I made a dead hedge last year with material from the garden and bits of storm damaged trees that would be cleared away by the council. I’ve seen long-tailed tit and wren hunting for insects and a ‘lovelyness’ is seven spot ladybirds.

This was just short grass 3 years ago.

A loveliness of seven spot ladybirds warming in the sun on our dead hedge in the garden.

Our pond is only three years old and we had 20+ last weekend. Lots of spawn now and the frogs have disappeared already! Plenty more nights for potential frost, don’t think it will do too much damage. We had spawn on flooded lawn under ice last year and rescued tadpoles when the pond flooded again.

We’ve added over a hundred trees and shrubs and two ponds to what was previously an empty, over manicured garden and see more and more birds as the cover and habitat for small creatures increases.

Nice. Our fourth Winter here in Worcestershire, but only nearby flyovers that I’ve seen. Hopefully our gardening for wildlife and extra planted Dog Rose will entice them soon.

Going to give the Miyawaki method a go with excess trees left over from hedging and saplings I’ve collected from around the garden. It’s going to be small, but it will be beautiful. @lgspace.bsky.social @worcswt.bsky.social @cathhodsman.bsky.social
