Our last workshop of the year was a great success yesterday. There was an abundance of dried flowers and foliage from the #communitygarden which the participants used to great and creative effect in their beautiful wreaths.

Just in case you need an extra reason to visit us this weekend - we now have new stocks of recently pressed apple juice for sale on site.

Open 10-2 Saturday and Sunday, you'll find the garden next to Pitchcroft racecourse at the Gheluvelt Park end. Do come and visit soon!

Our signpost/flood marker has had a new paint job - the blue-to-green point marks the highest flood point to date!

Check out the wonderful flower show around it too, still going strong in early October.

As in all gardens, there is lots to do at the #communitygarden this autumn. In the glorious sunshine yesterday, Jane and Eileen cleared four flowerbeds.

One of this week's activities was to harvest ripe, dry seed heads, remove all the chaff and the save in seed envelopes which we made.🌱

There’s nothing quite like popping open a sun-warmed pea pod and tasting the crisp, sweet burst of a fresh pea.

This variety is called Victorian purple podded pea, a very rare and rather beautiful variety that we have been growing and saving on the community garden for a number of years. 🫛

Head beekeeper Richard, and his assistant Jon inspect our hives on a regular basis. 🐝

Thanks to Richard’s careful management we now have six functioning hives from the two colonies we purchased back in March.

This means we will have a good supply of honey on sale later in the summer. 🍯
