Yes, even in “"'liberal'"” New York, prisoners can legally be paid as little as a dime an hour. Less than a dollar for eight hours of work.

There is a reason that people who want to abolish prisons are called abolitionists. Prisons are modern-day slavery.

Subminimum Wages in New York State Prisons
Matt Saleh, Timothy McNutt and Alex Herazy from ILR's Criminal Justice and Employment Initiative examine the payment of sub-minimum wages to prisoners in New York State and beyond.

The latest donations bring the total Streeting has accepted from private health-linked interests since 2015 up to £372,000

“What do those backers think they are getting for their money?"

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

Alongside many others in conservation I’ve lobbied on this & unfortunately I’ve seen arrogance & ignorance from Labour on nature protection & recovery goals.

Labour feels like a changing of the guard without sufficiently changing the politics.

Support Greens to look after people & wildlife.

Friends, can I ask a favour.

Our latest Honest Government out is a serious warning to Canada from Australia, which acts as a cautionary tail about the harms of the gas (LNG) export industry... Hence the cameo (spoiler alert) from our own aussie climate criminals, Woodside Energy

Whilst at Whitlingham C.P. today I walked past this thistle rosette and twigged that it looked slightly unusual. I stopped and had a closer look, noticing that one of the leaves has edged by the slime mould Diachea leucopodia.

A fantastic presentation on some hardcore survey work in the Scottish uplands here. Great to hear from Gus Routledge, who is unfortunately not on Bluesky ☹️, but evidently still doing inspirational field botany alongside @bsbiscotland.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social youtu.be/RZFv8lSfmj8?...

This should concern all of us living in the UK. Not just is this practice inhumane and humiliating, it is also a gross misuse of people's personal data. The public deserve the know all the details (including names) of how this practice came about, so those responsible can take responsibility.

They commit genocide with impunity.

There was no ceasefire, they broke it every single day.

They must be held to account.

Speak up. Take action.
