Let's be clear, Trump's MAGA base do not want an effective immigration policy that works quietly and efficiently without drama. They want ICE thugs out on the streets terrorizing brown people, smashed car windows, pepper spray, violence, liberal outrage. The performative cruelty is the whole point.

With no real oversight or enforcement 'Releasing the Epstein files' is just an empty Trump con-trick. The DOJ can release, or not, whatever it chooses. It can suppress anything as an 'ongoing investigation'. Or it can withhold material and the public won't know.
