I once used Star Wars as an excuse to punish my keyboard, sometimes for others, like http://FANgirlblog.com. I also whistle indoors. #SWREPMATTERS (He/Him)

HAPPY #VENTRESSDAY!

It’s been 22 years since the character first appeared in Genndy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars 2D series, and what a journey she’s had since.

From cartoons, to comics, to LEGO, to a true redemption arc, Ventress is a truly unique character who charts a path all her own. 💜💜💜

Me, internally confused over not having to go to work immediately on a Friday, but because it's for dental work.

Me: I don't even recognize Matt Damon.

Dog: [Bark Bark Bark!]

Me: Oh, so you're the expert huh.

I almost slipped on a discarded banana peel.

The boundaries between reality and slapstick comedies are weakening.

It's the slight cant to the mask that gives this image off-the-charts cartoon energy, like Vader's just accidentally eaten a ghost pepper or there's a Tex Avery awooga situation going on with Sabé.

I'd watch just a series about the Wall. Good lord, such great writing in those.
If I've said it once, I've said a hundred times, but the Solar Opposite Wall episodes are some of the funniest format breaks in TV imo.

Thinking about how people didn’t like R2-D2’s mini rockets as not obeying the laws of physics in a movie with space wizards.

Always here for some good etymology.
‘Nickname’ is not ‘nick’ + ‘name.’

It was originally ‘ekename.’

‘Eke’ was the Middle English word for “also” or “in addition.”

Since ‘ekename’ began with a vowel, people used ‘an’ before it.

Over time, 'an ekename' became 'a nickname.'

Tess of the D’Urbevilles and Jude the Obscure taught me not every ending has to be a happy one.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Predator: Badlands….was great!

This cannot be a real story.

BUT, I think they just treat every movie as canon, and while Bond doesn’t die, his appearance suddenly matches his age and we get a 009 who has gadgets in his walker and falls asleep over an untouched martini.

Between Star Trek 4 and Voyage of the Mimi, you were radicalized on the whale issue.
Another species no longer on the global Endangered list:
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae).

A few decades after a Star Trek movie where the central conflict was the total extinction of the humpback, their numbers are rising fast enough to put them at "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List.

Used to be I'd see a lot more Star Wars on my timeline, but over time, it's decreased, and then because you follow the right people, you get high quality SW based jokes.

And....yeah...a part of me wishes Disney had released the OT theatrical version any time in the last 11 years, so my kid could experience more what I did; but I don't think he cares when Han Solo blasted Greedo....and I've already played Yub Nub for him like a thousand times.
I'm going to show my kid the original trilogy sometime in the near future, but I haven't hidden the franchise from him. He loves Lego Star Wars and recently we watched Skeleton Crew together, which was a blast.

I've had a great time watching him enjoy it all.

Film models are just neat.
Some more shots of the model of the atmosphere processor from ALIENS. it's a superb design and towers over the location like a castle over a town - without it the townsfolk wouldn't survive.

The way it was shot in ALIEN Romulus was awesome, too. It's a daunting, iconic design.

There you go. Dude knows ACA is going away and plans to harp on fighting for healthcare between now and Nov 2026. That's the grand strategy.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting
