In response to an investigation launched by the federal government into the Portland Police Bureau’s policing practices at the local ICE facility, the city attorney shot back, laying out a pattern of excessive force used on protesters, and favoritism toward conservative streamers by federal police.

Judge says the US "has a longstanding and foundational tradition of resistance to government overreach, especially in the form of military intrusion into civil affairs. ...This historical tradition boils down to a simple proposition: this is a nation of Constitutional law, not martial law.”

This morning President Trump threatened to deploy additional troops to Portland, allowing them to use "full force, if necessary"—even though federal agents have been caught on video instigating violence against protesters. Here's what to expect if Trump follows through with his plan.

Earlier tonight, city & state leaders warned about an increased number of federal agents dispatched around Portland. They cautioned residents not to "take the bait." About 2 dozen protesters are posted up outside the ICE facility in Portland. So far, things are quiet; no clashes.

Mayor Keith Wilson announced Friday evening that the “rumors about deployment” of additional national law enforcement in Portland “became a reality” today, after escalating rhetoric by the Trump administration regarding anti-ICE protests in the city.

Anti-ICE protesters have spent months calling on Portland leaders to revoke a permit allowing ICE to operate in the South Waterfront. Today, Mayor Keith Wilson said ICE violated conditions of its land use permit by holding detainees longer than allowed.
